[Seniorwomen] Saturday Rugby at BLRC and Sub-Union Rep Rugby at BRockton Oval this Saturday

Hey everybody, we have a HUGE rugby day coming up this Saturday!!! EVERYBODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO  GET THEIR RUGBY FIX THIS WEEKEND!! The BLRC are involved in 5 matches on Saturday!

@Burnaby Lake Rugby Club:  11:30 Kickoffs for our two 3rd Division squads!!
-The Blue's will take the field to host the Brit-Lions! These 2 squads have had a couple of hard hitting matches in the past 2 years, and this Spring season opener should be no different. Captain Rick Flello has promised his squad a weekend retreat if the team should emerge from the mud bowl with a "W"! Yes folks, a full weekend at a Redneck Compound in Boston Bar where there will be planned activities such as "build a shower + latrine", getting drunk and firing fully automatic weapons at bottles, and listening to German Trance with Per until 5 am!
-The White's will be led into battle against Chilliwack RFC by the cool headed John "Johnny Napalm" DeCaire who knows full well the type of challenge that Chilliwack brings both on the field and afterwards at the bar!! Please come down and cheer on the fellas!!

If your into some hot + steamy inter-union rugby battles, hit Brockton Oval in Stanley Park where the 3 BC Rep Rugby Cup winners (McKechnie Cup, Ruth Hellerud Cup, and Dunbar Keg) will be decided! The Burnaby Lake Rugby Club has players competing in all 3 matches and would love your sideline support. For those coming to Brockton Oval....

11:30 Kickoff: Ruth Hellerud Cup - Our very own Walt Brandl coaches the Vancouver Rugby Union (VRU) Women as they take on the FVRU. While line-ups haven't been announced yet, in the VRU's first match (a close loss to the Island) the BLRC Women boasted 9 players, 1 manager, and 1 trainer on the squad in addition to the head coach!! The FVRU is captained by some-time BLRC player Emily Young who looks pretty in Blue + White...just saying.

1:15pm Kickoff: Dunbar Keg - The VRU U-20 Men were victorious in their 1st match over the Island. The BLRC was represented by Fullback Brian Murphy who scored a decisive try in the VRU's win and Mike O'Toole who led from the front until a shoulder injury ended his day! While I have heard the Mike may not be available this Saturday, look for more of the same from Brian! He's one of my favorite Murphy's!!(Dave's twin brother is quietly climbing the Favourite Murphy ranks)

BLRC FANS...PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF LOUD + NOTICEABLE WHEN CHEERING ON THE VRU....BUT...AFTER THE U-20 GAME, PLEASE SWITCH SIDES OF THE FIELD AND CHEER ON THE FVRU IN THE FINALE!!

3:00pm Kickoff: McKechnie Cup - In the Men's competition, the BLRC will be representing our former sub-union, The Fraser Valley Rugby Union. The FVRU were looked at as the underdogs in this competition but stunned the BC Rugby community with a Bonus Point win over the HEAVILY FAVOURED VIRU on Feb 2nd in Abbotsford.  The BLRC's Alec Douglas kicked 5 points and Craig McLaughlin added a try for the FVRU that day! The BLRC will have 10 players on the FVRU roster this Saturday and will be coached by Kris "Big Sexy" deScossa and assisted on the sidelines by BC Rugby's handsome-est President...Me. Gio Lam will also be talked into helping out with taping...he doesn't know it yet...but he will be.
