[Seniorwomen] King Charles II is giving you a royal command: "Play Poker!"

That's right, folks. King Charles the Second (who, as we all already know ,was singlehandedly responsible for restoring the British monarchy after years of Oliver Cromwell's domination) was a man who liked a good card game. Charles liked a to play cards, loved to gamble, and he would want you, one his subjects, to gamble too.

Ol' King Chuck was termed by many the "merry king". He liked wine, women, outrageous parties -- all the good things in life. He had a kick ass moustache, a set of world famous hunting dogs, and a penchant for gambling. When playing cards, if he had a streak of bad luck and ran out of chips -BAM - off came the diamond encrusted ring, on the table it would go, and he would re-raise your ass. Now I don't expect you to pawn your jewellery for the club, and neither would King Chuck, but we do expect you to pony up a mere 40 bucks to enter the BLRC Poker Tourney.

Believe it or not, folks, Canada is technically a constitutional monarchy (that's no BS, Admir, just look back at your high school notes, if you haven't burned them yet) So its time to do your duty by King and Country and enter the Poker Tourney!

The BLRC Poker Tournament will be held on April 20th!

The poker tournament will be at 6:30 pm on Saturday, April 20th at the Burnaby Lake Clubhouse. All proceeds from the tourney will go to the club 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2014.

The buy-in for the tourney will be $40, with re-buys available for those of us who like to run fast and loose with our chips. Novices to the game of poker are welcome. The pay out will go to the top 10% of the players.

Other events of chance will also be taking place during the tourney, including a 50/50 draw and a Toonie Toss.

Entry to the tourney ($40) can be bought from Greg Gilding or John Decaire. See John at practice or contact him at john_decaire at hotmail.com .

This will be a great opportunity for both the club, and burgeoning rounder within you, to make some money. Come out and support your club, and remember that the more players that enter the larger the prize will be.

John
