Rugby may be over for most of the club but there are still two teams vying for a championship title…
Tomorrow morning two Burnaby teams will be taking the field in their repsective semi-final games. Both the 3A’s and the 3B’s have made the third division playoffs. The 3B’s had a stellar season and finished in second only behind undefeated Meralomas. This ensured them a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The 3A’s also had a great season and played the Vancouver Rowing Club in their first playoff game last Saturday. After dispatching the Rowers the 3A’s advanced to the semis and will be travelling to Conought Park for an 11:30 am kickoff against the Meralomas. This game is a big one as the 3A’s will be looking to take down their undefeated opponents and ensure themselves a spot in next weeks finals. The 3B’s will be hosting Abbotsford in Burnaby Lake at the same time. Although in the previous match between the two teams the 3B’s handled Abbotsford easily, this is playoff time and both teams will be looking for the win.
Both Burnaby teams will be particularly motivated as they could face each other in next Satuday’s playoff match at UBC if they win tomorrow. Either way tomorrow looks to be shaping up to be an excellent day. Great weather, great rugby, so come out to either Conought Park or Burnaby Lake and support one of our playoff contenders.
Game times are at 11:30 am.
