Rugby Canada has just selected the National Senior Women’s Team for the 2005 Canada Cup that will be played in Ottaway this summer. Four players from BLRC were invited – Kary Steele, Julia Sugawara, Sabrina Neufeld, and Anna Schnell. From the four, Kary Steele has been selected to travel and both Anna and Julia have been named as non-travelling reserves. Unfortunately for the girls the previously scheduled Canada A games have been dropped because of funding shortfalls.
Also taking a spot on a national team for the second year is Jessica Dovaign who has secured a position on the Canada U-19 squad – see the Rugby Canada website for details.
And finally, we have several players involved with the Vancouver team – Michelle Paquet, Dawn Williams, Kary Steele, Julia Sugawara, Jessica Dovaign, Sabrina Neufeld, Shannon Lowe, Iona Schamberger, Shannon Fedowa, Emma Hadfield, and Anna Schnell. Erin Agostini is managing the team and Walt Brandl is coaching it.
