The BC Rugby Union has released its Calendar for the 2011 Summer 7’s Series. There are 6 tournaments that have been endorsed to accrue points for the BC Rugby Union 7’s Series and Burnaby Lake has been chosen as one of the stops on the Series.
The Tour starts at James Bay on June 11th and ends at Bayside on August 28th. Vancouver 7’s at Brocton Oval is on June 25th, the Highland 7’s at SFU is on July 16th. This will be followed by the Abbotsford International Tounament on July 23rd.
Burnaby Lake Rugby will host the next stop on August 6th, after the August long weekend, allowing a bit of a break for the players, and then the final stop of the endorsed tournaments at South Surrey, where Bayside will host the last of the six tournaments.
There will be Social tournaments, the Midnight 7’s by United Rugby Club on June 11th and Capilanos 7’s at Klahanie Park on August 13th.
Burnaby Lake Liighthouse Men’s Team are defending Champions at SFU, Burnaby Lake and Capilanos 7’s and the Elite Women’s Team are defending Champions of the James Bay Buccaneers 7’s, Vancouver 7’s, SFU Highland 7’s and Abbotsford International 7’s. This will be a tough act to follow, especially for the Women as Rugby Canada will be sending two Teams to the Abbotsford tournament. But the girls will be up for it and the Men will be gunning for more tournaments to add to the ones they won last year.
Both Teams will also be defending the BC Rugby Championship Series this year.
