Team trials will be taking place on June 25th and 26th at Burnaby Lake. Saturday from 11am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm. Practices will then be weekends until the National Rugby Festival.
In selecting athletes to the team the coaching staff will be looking at the following factors:
1. Fitness
• Athletic ability – size, speed, quickness, strength, overall fitness
• Cardiovascular Fitness – 20 m Beep Test
• Speed – 30-metre Sprint Test
• Muscular Power – Triple Jump Test
2. Technical and Tactical Performance
• Basic Rugby Skills – ball handling, contact skills
• Decision making ability
• Communication skills
3. Personal Characteristics
• Team and program goal oriented (team player)
• Self motivated
• Cooperative
• Confident
• Positive attitude
All players are welcomed to attend the trial weekend; long lists will be selected according to the fitness and skill results.
Please note that all of those players making the long list may be subject to some training costs even if they are not selected to the final squad.
Fundraising opportunities will be discussed beginning the trial weekend and sponsorship letters will be available by request after the long list has been chosen.
Additional training sessions and/or games will be used to select a short list of 25 Senior Women players to represent BC at the 2005 National Festival in Burnaby August 15th-21st.
