Here are the preliminary results from the weekend …
It was certainly a weekend of high scores, unfortunately the BLRC was on the losing side of one of them. With Abbotsford visiting the Lake with three teams for the home opener Burnaby was looking to put on a show for the partisan crowd and they didn’t disappoint. The third division looked strong as they downed Abbey 55 – 12, the seconds continued this trend with a 48 – 0 drubbing. Meanwhile the women played a strong match versus SFU and were rewarded with a 39-5 (may not be exact) victory. In the last match ofthe day the BLRC premier team took the field, while at times they looked strong they were hurt by a series of injuries as well as some miscues that led to Abbotsford capitalizing with easy tries. At the end of the game the visitors held a comfortable lead and Burnaby was unable to close the gap. The whistle blew and the final was 31 – 16.
