The Capilanos came to Burnaby this past weekend for a host of games. Here are the results…
The Third division team saw an unfortunate reversal of the previous weekend’s results. Tries were scored by Anthony Barbosa and Mike Wilson while Jamie Levchuk added a conversion. The final score was 47-12 for the visitors.
The Second Division game was much like that of the thirds with Burnaby playing defence for the majority of the second half. Alex Douglas slotted two penalties for Burnaby’s only points. Final 37-6 for Caps.
The Firsts division was coming off two rough results to face the defending BC Champs; the home side was certainly ready for the challenge. The Capilanos have started the season off with wins over two of the stronger clubs in the league and so are looking strong. In this game Burnaby certainly showed that the outcomes of the first two games were not indicitive of the strength of the team. The game was close through to the end where Capilanos held off a persistent Burnaby side to take a close one 21-17. Adam McCluskey had a great game scoring the two homeside tries while scumhalf Craig Stewart hit a penalty and two conversions.
The Women continued their winning ways with a 15-0 win over Capilanos. Michelle Johnson scored a single try while Sabrina Neufeld came away with two. For the record the women’s defense has allowed a single try this season and no points from kicks.
The U-19’s played Pocomo-Douglas early on Saturday and won 36-10. Tries were scored by Angus Fisher, Reid Clark, Alan Tang and David Pankratz got the hattrick. Brendan Fairs added three conversions.
Sunday saw the U-16’s host the Meralomas. It was a close game but Burnaby took the result 12-7. Two tries were scored, one each by Luca Bogdanovic and Matt Davey with a single convert being hit by Robert Manning.
