The 2011 BLRC Lighthouse 7’s Program starts two weeks after the BC Rugby Union Spring Season ends. Coaches and Managers are getting ready for their different Teams as the Club will be running two Senior Men, one Senior Women and one Juniors Teams.
The Club got back into the BC Rugby 7’s series in 2010 after a lapse of about fourteen years and promptly won the Series in both the Elite Men and Women’s Division. We will again be entering as many tournaments as we can this year. The Women were winners in most of last year’s tournaments and are expected by the various tournament hosts to be defending the Titles again this year. The Men’s Division were also very successful in most of the tournaments and will be expected to defend their Titles as well. This year’s program will have to be better as all Teams competing this year will be aiming for our Title.
We have already entered three Teams to the Abbotsford International Tournaments and will be registering with those that will be hosting their tournaments in June and July. The BLRC Lighthouse 7’s Tournament will again be held at our Burnaby Lake Fields and it will be on August 6th, 2011. We are looking forward to another exciting Summer of Seven A Side Rugby as we prepare our players not only for another great run at the BC Rugby Union Series Title, but also preparing our young ones for a chance at the Olympic Teams in 2016
