This past weekend BLRC’s Julia Sugawara was recognized for her tireless efforts and incredible dedication to the rugby community in BC and across Canada by receiving the 2011 Colette McAulay Award! For full details of the award, see this article.
For those of you who know Julia, this should come as no surprise. For those of you, who don’t, search her out before practice and brighten your life by spending a few minutes talking rugby/coaching/reffing/or about her wild and crazy times on tour with Dr. Gallo!
Congratulations Julia, we’re all very proud of you and thankful that you call Burnaby Lake your club!
Julia wasn’t the only Blue + White member of this year’s BC Women’s Premier Champion team nominated for the award. Jocelyn Barrieau was nominated by the Quebec Rugby Union for the many hours she puts into coaching and growing the sport in her home province of Quebec.
Without the efforts of amazing people like Julia and Jocelyn, rugby in Canada would not survive!
