This month, all of the Club’s Junior teams and Mini program are set to start off!
Beginning with the Minis, the first session will be held on Sunday, September 16th from 10 AM to 12 noon. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level. Mini rugby is a great way to meet new friends and learn to play one of the newest Olympic sports! So come on down, bring a friend or relative and make it a great season! All the usual cast of coaches will be back along with some new faces!
Onto our age-grade teams…
U18 Women (girls born 1995 – 1998): As part of the Club’s efforts in developing youth rugby in Burnaby, we are happy to announce our newest addition to the BLRC Family! Girls are encouraged to come out and learn the sport of rugby playing with many of their peers. Much like the U19 Men program, one will develop skills and knowledge of the sport in preparation for high school rugby in the spring and inclusion into Burnaby Lake’s Women’s Program!
U15 Boys (boys born 1998 – 2000): The first session is Wednesday, September 5 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM over at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex – West, Field #4, located at 3677 Kensington Ave. This is a great way to give yourself extra practice time on top of school rugby. Games/jamborees will be held once a week which will be determined at a later date.
U17 Men (boys born 1996 – 1997): Some informal sessions have started running but it is never a bad idea to come down and play rugby. Once fully started, sessions will remain 6:00 PM to appoximately 7:15/30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays also at Field 4 at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex – West. This age-group were Finalists in the Lower Mainland U16 Division last year and look to improve on that status.
U19 Men (boys born 1994 – 1995): As the Club’s main development group feeding into the Senior Men’s program, these guys will be given the chance to hone their skills from September – December. Practices run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to appoximately 7:15 P, also at Field #4. This team is also a great way to get in extra training to prepare you for Senior grade high school rugby in the Spring.
It is an exciting time for Junior Rugby at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. We hope to see you on the pitch!
