Here are the scores from Saturday’s games…
In the third division Burnaby lost 10-27. The highlight of the match being the try scored by Steve Dubriel; the first of his rugby career.
In second division action the final score was 21-19. The lead changed hands numerous times in the last minutes of the game. Jamie Levchuk hit two clutch kicks to ensure the win. But the man of the match would have to go to the UBC fullback who in a moment of inspiration threw the ball away after being pushed into touch as time ran out. This garnered him a professional foul and gave Burnaby who were down by one at this point a chance at goal. Jamie Levchuk calmly slotted it between the posts as the referee blew the final whistle.
The first divison game was a bit sloppy at times but Burnaby were dominant and won 32-11. UBC were fast and fit and played hard but the experience and size of the Burnaby Lake team proved to be too much for them.
The women won a tight game against the Lomas 7-3. This places the women in a tie for third place with SFU. With the coming Christmas break it will give the women time to rest up and regroup for the second half.
Saturday’s Under 19 boys match saw them facing SFU in the Tier II playoffs, after playing some good rugby this season it has come to an end with a 15-7 defeat at the hands of SFU.
There has been no word of the Under 16 playoff match at the Capilanos on Sunday.
