Tomorrow is a big day at the clubhouse…
Saturday March 11th is going to be a busy day at the Burnaby Lake Sports complex. The BCRU CDI Premier League Game of the Week is being held at our home field and features the home side against the island’s Castaway-Wanderers. If you didn’t see the ad in yesterday’s province Patty looked ready. This game is a crucial on as not only is it the game of the week but it is also the fight for second place. Currently both teams are sporting the same record but CW is ahead based on bonus points. A Burnaby win would put us up but CW could stay neck and neck with a bonus point. There are a number of scenarios but they don’t mean anything unless the Burnaby side wins the match. A loss could mean a substantial drop in standings as both James Bay and the Meralomas are just a step behind and both have games against weaker opponents. The game starts at 2:30, lets have a large partisan crowd on hand to support the team.
Make sure you get to the fields early as there is a couple of other games going on as well. The Castaway Wanderers first division side is coming to the mainland as well and will be facing our firsts.
The 3 A’s are at home against Abbotsford starting at 11:30 and the 3 B’s are in Stanley Park at the same time facing the Rowers.
The women’s team has a bye.
Saturday is also the annual BLOBs day and so there will be many alumni at the game rooting for the home sides. As with years past their fierce support will be contagious and the sidelines will be rife with emotion.
After all the games are over the cluhouse is hosting the after game social, and then later in the night there is a Hawaiian themed Karaoke night happening. So warm up your vocal cords and come sing a ditty.
